Dear Honolulu Waldorf Community,
From the moment I first stepped foot on the Honolulu Waldorf School campus, I felt welcomed and appreciated.
Ever since, I have been treated as a friend and valued for my professional expertise, as a former Board member and parent. It is always empowering to feel like you have found your ʻOhana, like you belong.
Join me in helping support HWS to “have fun and do good work!,” a phrase I use when giving to the school. The Annual Fund supports expenses such as tuition assistance, Waldorf professional development, and enhancing the campus and classrooms.
I have seen the curiosity of students as they discover secrets in their main lesson. I remember a science class where a bow was strung, and students learned – in a very experiential way – that the exact midpoint is where the sound is an octave higher.
I once walked with a small group of students and their teacher. While the children expanded on a hypothesis, the teacher listened carefully and with respect, clarifying their concepts as they explained, the whole time showing respect for students and their ideas.
Your donations of any amount to our Winter Appeal sustain an educational ʻOhana like no other I have ever experienced, and give more opportunities for students to thrive in a creative, caring,
compassionate environment.
Honolulu Waldorf School, its teachers and staff, are introducing today’s children – tomorrow’s decision-makers – to the concepts of humanity and civility. When I observe the world today, it’s not difficult to see that this is not an option, but a necessity!
